If you're considering Reiki for the first time, you might feel curious, excited, or even a little unsure about what to expect. At Willow Wellness Therapies, creating a safe, nurturing space is at the heart of every session. Here’s a gentle guide to help you feel more comfortable as you step into your first Reiki experience.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that works to balance your physical, emotional, and energetic systems. It’s a non-invasive, deeply relaxing practice that promotes healing and inner calm. During a session, the practitioner channels universal life force energy through their hands to support your body’s natural healing processes.

Setting the Intention
Before your session begins, we’ll take a few moments to connect. You’re welcome to share any emotional, physical, or energetic concerns you’re carrying. This helps us set an intention for the session that feels aligned with your current needs, whether that’s rest, release, clarity, or simply nurturing.
What Happens During the Session?
Clothing: You remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a massage table, supported with cushions or bolsters as needed.
Hands-On or Hands-Off: Reiki can be offered with a light, respectful touch or just above the body if you prefer no contact. Either way, the energy flows where it's needed.
The Environment: Expect a calm, peaceful space with soft lighting, gentle music, and a grounding, supportive atmosphere.

How Will You Feel?
Everyone experiences Reiki differently, but common sensations include:
A sense of warmth or tingling
Gentle waves of relaxation
Emotional release, such as tears or laughter
A light, floaty feeling or deep sense of peace
You might feel a combination of these, or something entirely unique. There’s no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
After Your Session
We’ll allow time for gentle grounding and integration. I’ll share any intuitive insights or observations if it feels supportive. Drinking water and resting afterward is recommended. You may feel lighter, clearer, or more in tune with yourself in the hours or days following.
Your first Reiki session is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and receive. It’s not about “fixing” anything, it’s about offering your body and soul the space to breathe, soften, and heal.
